Here is a beautiful Peace Country View, where the fields stretch out almost as far as the eye can see. Hopefully those crops with shoot up in the next few weeks. This is the view from White Mountain, a very easy “mountain” to climb.

Judy’s Rose
Flowers are so difficult to capture! Here is Judy’s freshest painting, a delicate pink rose with layered shadows.
Cavalier King Charles
Carolyn got an over-the-shoulder snapshot of these two snuggling up on a car ride. The granular texture comes from Daniel Smith’s Sodalite, a Primatek colour.
Suns in the Sky
Judy captured this shot through the raindrops on the window. It looks like there may be a few extra suns, or planets, in the sky!
Crocuses
Judy had to maintain a light and delicate touch to paint these downy harbingers of spring. It seems like a long time ago that the first signs of warmth were causing excitement in the Peace Country.
Sky Halo
Judy snapped this shot of the sun with a halo at Red Willow Creek.
Orcas in the Night
Judy had a commission to paint a peaceful scene with orcas swimming near a mountain. She made it more enchanting with a display of northern lights and infusing character in the pod.
Blue and White Back-lit
A First Oil Painting
Carolyn decided to study portrait painting in a more changeable medium that watercolour… so out came Judy’s box of oils from her pre-watercolour era. Other than trying a landscape at a course last year, this is Carolyn’s first crack at oil painting, and supplies for an impatient artist are a bit limited these days. Unfortunately the problems with the sketch weren’t fully addressed. The nose might be smaller and the ear bigger, but the lower half of the face is too short. Still, it was a great exercise in seeing shapes and colours. It is unfinished (obviously, that nostril needs addressing) so stay tuned… maybe it will be a masterpiece eventually.
Poplar Spring
Spring moves so quickly it is hard to believe that only a few weeks ago these little buds were the first exciting hint of green!
