Field of a Billion Wishes
The photo came out looking a little greener than the painting, but this was for the Green challenge with our local group. Unfortunately Carolyn got a little bored with it… not sure if it is finished or not, not sure what to do with it next.
Spring Bouquet
Judy’s painting combines two challenges, Blue and Pussy Willows, from our local art group. She thought the blue glass could work for Happiness as well, because collecting it makes her happy. So does spring!
Hockey Book Mark
This one goes out to a young fellow in Ontario who loves hockey!
Winter Flashback
Now that we finally have some bare ground showing, here’s a flash back to the end of March, when we had a crazy dump of snow! Judy got this interesting picture of the drifts through the fence. There’s a painting challenge!
Another Mini Northern Lights
Daniel Smith’s Jadeite is a lovely colour for northern lights. It is a barely there green in it’s most watered down form and it mixes well with the darks for wet in wet night skies. Looks like a lovely night for a paddle.
Judy’s Orange Challenge
A beautiful answer to the Orange challenge from our local art group!
Pussy Willows!
Spring is a little slow to arrive in the Peace Country, except for the pussy willows, which have emerged several times over our unpredictable winter. Hopefully showing up a little early won’t matter to the growth of the trees. Carolyn painted these by masking the buds with her fingers dipped in Kwik Sew, a liquid latex. The background was poured and sprayed with water to make those fuzzy white spots. Some branches were brushed in while it was wet too. Then just the unmasking and the little details and there is a riot of spring softness.
Art Before Breakfast
Judy’s creative senses kick in first thing.
Hands in Washable Pens
Carolyn was sketching her hand for a challenge by the local art group. All was well until the thumb grew incredibly large! So, new challenge. The thumb now belongs to the right hand and the challenge was to look at the hand, then take it away to draw the remembered image. Well, that’s hard. Adding calligraphy pen that, as it turns out, is water soluble, was an interesting addition. Well, it’s good to play. The animals are doodles to see if I remember how a deer and a cow go. Well…
