Ctenucha Virginica

I’ve never seen one of these moths around here before, but that doesn’t mean they’re uncommon.  They are uncommonly easy to identify: this is the Ctenucha Virginica moth.  Sounds like something from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  I’d eat a chocolate moth.

It has black wings reminiscent of a bat’s, an iridescent body and fluorescent fuzz.  Apparently the long antennae indicate the male, who must seek the females.
