What is It?

Judy was trying out a few foil sculptures in preparation for the kids’ class tonight.  Sculpture is fun; you never know what might be channeled through your hands.  Like this… creature. What is it?

It has big ears, gangly legs, a skinny body with a scrawny chest…

And a big happy grin! It could be anything. Use your imagination! The kids will love it.

It does kind of remind Carolyn of somebody though…

Last year my daughter who was 5 at the time did an art class and they did sculptures out of plaster tape. I’m not sure if you have heard of it…it was new to me. It is the tape they use to make casts out of (was my understanding). Just thought I would mention it as it was really neat.

    Hi Deb,
Yes, we have used the plaster cast material too. One little girl in particular in this session of classes loves tin foil so the project was designed with her in mind. We laughed hilariously over this litte critter between ourselves but he didn’t actually make it to class. The project taught was turtles and then using the same techniques, the kids made their own creations. They did a wonderful job. The older children used tin foil and metal netting and after learning a few techniques and strategies were free to create. When they finished, most chose to make a turtle too. I think Carolyn is going to post pictures. The young artists all had a wonderful time.
