Every year every grade three student in Fairview, Alberta gets to paint a big beautiful banner that hangs from a streetlamp and beautifies the town all summer. It’s a wonderful program, very much a tradition in Fairview and a ready made project to celebrate any special event in the area. This year’s theme was the 100th anniversary of the M.D., which generated plenty of ideas in the grade 3 classes.
Carolyn has been the program instructor for six years and Judy is famed for her master paint mixing abilities. It’s a crazy couple of days, but we enjoy the Banner Program and all the kids who are thrilled to be in on it.
If you happen to be up this way in the summer, watch for Fairview’s wonderful banners!
I love this idea. Do you have any pictures of the banners hanging in town?
Oh! Good point. I’ll have to get some when they’re hung. I can’t believe I’ve never thought of that before!!
I can see this idea working in our city if the idea is presented to the right people.
If you need any information I’ll be happy to tell you all I know 🙂 Or all I can find out.
What a great idea.
They look really great when they’re up. And the kids and their relatives can go on a kind of scavenger hunt to find their banners.
